The Black Knight of Germany - WWI German Flying Ace Eduard Ritter von Schleich - Model Cellar MC32002
Eduard-Maria Joseph Ritter von Schleich (9th August 1888 – 15th November 1947) was a high-scoring First World War flying ace. Credited with 35 aerial victories at the end of the War in 1918, he went on to serve in the German Luftwaffe as a general during the Second World War
He was awarded the following decorations for his service in the First World War - Iron Cross 1914, 1st and 2nd Class (4th December 1917); Order Pour le Mérite (5th December 1917); Knight’s Cross of the Military Order of Max Joseph (14th June 1918).
The Black Knight was designed by the well-know sculptor Mike Good and produced as an excellent resin figure casting, available from Model Cellar
This figure has been painted by the expert painter Stelios Neofitidis and published as article in Figure Modelling 20 by Mr Black Publications. He has used acrylics and the figure is mounted on a high quality pedestal wooden base. The figure is made from resin. The figure is strongly fitted to a wooden varnished base and has a scratch built groundwork. The colors' selection has been made after historical research, so that the result is as close as possible to the German Pilots of the ERA. This particular model is a collectible.
