The Masterbox figures chosen for the diorama, were ideal because of their dramatic poses conveying very realistic movement, but of course we modellers are never satisfied, so a few changes and updates had to be done to create a unique result and add some character to each figure. This was achieved by using new heads by the British company Hornet, which are considered the best – worldwide! The German officer and the first German soldier, who is running, received extensive changes and updates, to create realistic poses. Please note that the heads and the weapons were painted separately and later attached to each figure. The exact positions of the heads and weapons must be tested and chosen beforehand. A scarf was added in some cases to hide any obvious gaps around the necks.
Pins were inserted and glued into the soldiers feet to fit into corresponding holes drilled into temporary wooden bases that we use when priming with Vallejo Black Primer Spray and for support when painting. All the painting was done using Vallejo Model Color acrylics.
The colors' selection has been made after historical research, so that the result is as close as possible to the German soldiers of the ERA.
